I spent much of the past 2 decades as a chef and grew to hate cooking and everything associated with it. It is not the glamour job presented on TV, rather it is a back breaking, low paid and generally thankless position! I did it all - breakfast chef, exec chef, function chef, temp chef, and after my last 70 hour week Sous Chef role I had finally had enough and downed tools. I moved on to a Catering Management role where the hours and pay still sucked big time, and it led me to making some decisions about my life and where I wanted to be at the age of 40. The hours I was doing in no way fit with a solid family life which is where my focus now lay. Working from home was where it was at for me, and at the time I was looking (serendipitous?) I found an ad for a new Australian company which piqued my interest. A brand new party plan company selling gourmet food and kitchen gadgets through an in home demo - like Tupperware but think mini cooking class. I did my research, I liked what I saw in the catalogue, and for a minimal $200 investment I could set up my own home based business with full training provided plus the added bonus of mentoring with proven leaders. For me it was a no lose situation - I was getting around $500 worth of products which if all else failed I knew I would use myself or share with family and friends. So I joined Your Inspiration At Home in it's launch month of March 2010, and became Founding Consultant #43. And my story continues from there, but that's another blog!
